About the hotel
Castel Monastero Tuscan Resort & Spa is a small medieval village built in the 11th century, located in the splendid Ombrone Valley, 15 miles east of Siena. Transformed into a luxurious country resort that is surrounded by Chianti vineyards, cornfields, chestnut forests and orderly rows of cypress trees, the amenities and level of service is so high that you may never want to leave this Tuscan paradise!
The guestrooms and Suites are scattered throughout the property in various stone buildings and in an independent villa, the magnificent 17th-century Villa Lavanda. They overlook the village square and surrounding countryside, and are supplied with rustic but elegant furniture in the Tuscan tradition, blended with contemporary style and comfort. Terracotta floors, wood-beamed ceilings and a spacious sitting area characterize several of the room types, while the large bathrooms are all in volcanic stone and many have a separate tub and shower.
In keeping with Tuscany's fine food and wine culture, there are two restaurants to choose from, both under the supervision of Michelin-starred chef Gordon Ramsey. Contrada is the resort's elegant gourmet restaurant where the classic flavors of Tuscany are reworked in a modern key. The relaxed atmosphere of La Cantina in the vaulted spaces of the medieval wine cellars is ideal for a quick lunch or a laid-back dinner.Two charming venues in the Spa are the tearoom, serving infusions of aromatic herbs grown on the estate, and the wine bar where you can relax with an aperitif or a glass of Chianti wine.
From the Himalayas to the hills of Chianti -- East meets West at the state-of-the-art Spa, located in two beautiful, rustic, rural buildings on the property. Here guests may choose from an array of treatments like weight-loss, detox, and revitalization for mind and body created exclusively for Castel Monastero by Dr. Mosaraf Ali, a leading expert in Ayurvedic and integrated medicine. Spa facilities include three outdoor pools, two indoor pools, a sauna, Turkish bath, and showers with chromo and aromatherapy.
The Resort has 3 outdoor swimming pools where sun-beds, parasols and pool towels are provided on a complimentary basis. The resort offers a complimentary tennis court and bike renting (available at local cost). There is also the opportunity to take trips in hot air balloons and other excursions to the surrounding towns and villages.

Deluxe: King or twin bedroom. Bathroom with bath & overhead shower or separate shower cubicle. Cot possible.Prestige: King or twin bedroom, most with a small, lounge area (open-plan) Third bed or cot available. Bathrooms have a separate bathtub and shower.
Junior Suite: Spacious suite with king or twin beds and a lounge area (open-plan). Third bed available (one room can accommodate two adults & two children (on a sofa bed).
Junior Suite Piazza: The same as with Junior Suite, but located in buildings around the piazza on the ground or upper floor. Some have views over the ancient courtyard and some the countryside.
Executive Suite: Spacious suite with king or twin bedroom and lounge separated via a door. Can accommodate three adults or two adults, one child and one infant.
Royal Suite: King or twin bedroom with lounge separated via a door. One suite has a private terrace with garden area and another has a small balcony. Can accommodate two adults, one child and one infant.
